JAMES THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1834.

Levy Court of Frederick county, be and is hereby authoris-
ed, if in their discretion the public convenience require it,
to levy a sum of money, not exceeding twelve hundred dol-
lers, for the erection of a bridge over Tom's Creek, on the
road leading from Emmittsburg to Hagerstown, of such ma-
terials and of such construction, as they, in their judgment
may think best calculated to promote the public interest

CHAP 31.

Sec 2. And be it enacted, That the Levy Court of said
county are hereby authorised to contract with any persons
to build said bridge, and are required to take bond or bonds
with sufficient security from any contractor or contractors,
for the faithful performance of their contract.

WHEREAS, George W Deems, Adi Pindall, James Dar-
ling, James Wilkinson, Alexander Tunis, John Evans, John
Brown, Jacob Day, Daniel R Barry, Robert Frederick, and
others, have formed themselves into a society for the lauda-
ble purpose of affording relief to each other and their re-
spective families, in the event of sickness and death, and
having prayed an act of incorporation, that they may the
better execute their intentions, and the Legislature being

desirous of promoting such useful institutions — Therefore,
Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the persons mentioned in the preamble of
this act, and all others that now are, or may hereafter become
members of the corporation herein erected, and there sue
