by any sheriff, coronor or elisor, constable, or other officer,
the party, defendant shall have the right and privilege of
selecting the newspaper in which such notice shall be pub-
lished, and upon refusing or neglecting to make a selection,
the sheriff, coroner or elisor, constable, or other officer, as
the case may be, shall make publication in the newspaper
making the lowest rate or charge for the advertisement

An act to authorise the Levy Court of Saint Mary's County,
to levy a sum of money sufficient to erect a Bridge over
the head waters of Britton's Bay, in said County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the levy court of Saint Mary's county, be,
and they are hereby authorised and directed to levy on the
assessable property of said county, such sum of money as
may be necessary to build a bridge over the head waters of
Bntton's Bay, commonly called Key's Run, at or near where
the public road from Clement's Bay to Leonard Town now
crosses said run

Sec 18. And be it enacted, That Joseph Stone, Joseph
Spalding, and John Walton, be, and they are hereby ap-
pointed commissioners, a majority of whom shall have
power to act, to contract with and employ any person or
persons to build and complete the same
|

Sec. 3 And be it enacted, That when said commissioners,
or a majority of them, shall certify to said levy court, that
said contract has been complied with, agreeably to the pro-
visions thereof, the levy court aforesaid, shall cause the
mount, so contracted for, to be paid over to said contrac-
or or contractors
Sec. 4 And be it enacted, That the levy court shall al-
ow said commissioners two dollars per day for each day
hey shall be actually employed in making such contract,
and superintending said work.
