as all nuisances, whether such at common taw, or so declar-

See 4 And be it enacted, That all by-laws and ordinan-
ces of the said moderator aud commissioners, shall be pub-
lished at least twice in all the newspapers published in
Hagerstown, and that such publication shall he held, deem-
ed and taken as sufficient in all eases, any former law to the
contrary notwithstanding

fore passed by the said moderator and commissioners shall
be as valid and effectual, to all intents and purposes, as if the

An act relating to Constables Fees, in Washington county,
and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, some sections of the county are very remote
from the jail, thereby subjecting the constatles to great in-
convenienee, and the compensation not adequate to the
labbr performed in the delivering over t6 the jailor, persons
committed, Therefore.

Preamble

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act all Con
stables in Washington county, shall be entitled to receive, in
addition to the fifty cents now allowed, six and a fourth
cents per mile, for every mile they have to travel, after the
first four miles, in delivering over to the jailor of Washing
