themselves aggrieved by the decision of said justice of the
peace, he, she, or they, shall have a right to appeal to the
next County Court, in the same manner, and with the same
powers and privileges, that parties have in other cases of
appeal from the judgments of justices of the peace

CHAP. 210

Appeal

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That if any person or persons
shall be prosecuted under the third section of this act, and
the said prosecution, shall not be sustained on the part of
the prosecutor, then and in such case, the person or per
sons prosecuted as aforesaid, shall receive from the Com-
pany the sum of twenty dollars, in lieu of damages from
delay and vexatious prosecution, recoverable as other fines
under this act, and rf any toll gatherer shall, knowingly,
demand and receive any greater toll from any person or
persons, than such toll gather is authorised to demand and

receive, by virtue of this act, or the act to which this is a
supplement, or any supplement thereto, such toll gatherer

An act to Incorporate the Merchants' Bank of Baltimore

Passed Mar 11, 1835

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Samuel Hoffman, John B Howell, Thomas
Harrison, William Crawford, Jr., Thomas W Hall, Osmond
C Tiffany, Joseph Todhunter, Samuel Jones, Jr , Alexan
der Murdock, Evan P Thomas, James Barroll, and John
Gibson, be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners,
under the direction of a majority of whom subscriptions may
he recerved to the capital stock of the Merchants' Bank of
Baltimore, hereby incorporated, and they or a majority of
them shall cause books to be opened at such times in the
city of Baltimore, and in the county town of each county in
this State, and such other places as they may direct, for the
purpose of receiving subscriptions to the capital stock of

Commissioner to take stock

said Bank after giving at least four weeks public notice in,
all the daily newspapers published in the city of Baltimore,
and in at least one newspaper in every county of this Slate,
