LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 192.

Shaaf, then of the same city and district, for the convey-
ance of certain lands lying in Allegany county, in the State
of Maryland, be, and the same is hereby declared to be as
valid and effectual in law, as if the same had been duly exe-
cuted according to the existing laws of this State, and the
clerk of Allegany county is hereby authorised to record
said deed, and the said deed is hereby declared as binding
in law as if as any deed not recorded within the time pre-
scribed by law, may be, by virtue of the act of the session
of eighteen hundred and thirty-one, chapter three hundred
and four.

An act to amend the law relative to distress for Rent.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the fourth day of July next
ensuing the passage of this act, any and every landlord or
landlords, or their agents, who may be authorised to distrain
for rent due him, her, or them, upon the goods and chattels

making such distress, go before some justice of the peace
of the county where the premises lie, or where the landlord
or landlords, or then agents, may reside, and make oath or
affirmation, as the case may be, according to law, that his,
her, or their tenant or tenants, is, or are justly and bona
fide, indebted to him, her, or them, in the sum of dol-
lars and cents, specifying the amount which the said
landlord or landlords shall or may claim to be due, in dol-
lars and cents, where the distress is for a certain money
rent, or, that he, she, or they the said landlord or landlords,
is, or are justly and bona fide entitled to the quantity or
proportion of the produce claimed by the said landlord or
landlords, where the distress shall or may be made under
and by virtue of the act of assembly of eighteen hundred
and thirty one, chapter one hundred and seventy one, enti-
tled, an act renting to landlords and tenants, for rent in

lord or landlords, and that he, she, or they the said landlord
or landlords, hath or have not received, or her directly or in-
directly, any part or parcel of the said rent, claimed to be
due and in arrear, or any security or satisfaction for the
