CHAP 101.

Sec 3 And be it enacted, That from and after the pas-
sage of this act, the officers of the Mechanic Institute and
Frederick Lyceum, shall consist of a President, two Vice
Presidents, two Secretaries, a Treasurer, and nine Directors,
who shall be elected by ballot, on the second Monday in
October next, and annually thereafter, a majority of the
members present at the meeting, being necessary to consti-
tute a choice, the association shall also have power to ap
point such other officers as they may deem necessary and
expedient) and in such manner as they may think proper.

Officers -elections

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That until there shall be,
under this act, an election of officers necessary to the uses
of this institution, those now acting, or who may be here-
after appointed to act, under any existing regulation of the
association, shall continue so to do, according to the pro
visions of the association heretofore made, and such regula-
tions shall, till lawfully altered, be deemed as valid and
obligatory, as if made since the passage of this act.

Present officers

Sec. 5 And be it enacted, That no member of the insti-
tution shall, in his individual capacity, be answerable for
any losses, deficiencies, or failures of the joint fund or debt
of the said society, nor for any more or larger sum or sums
of money whatever, than the current amount by him payable
into the common fund of the society
