Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this law shall not be in
force or have any operation whatever, unless the same shall
have been approved of by the mayor and city council on or
before the first day of April next.
Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the proviso to the se-
venth section of the act of one thousand eight hundred and
seventeen, chapter seventy-one, be and the same is hereby
repealed; and that the wharf referred to in the third pro-
viso, shall in future be under the charge of the state wharf-
inger, and subject to the same regulations as other state
wharves in the city of Baltimore.

CHAP. 88.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the state wharfinger be
and he is hereby authorised to rent any part of the wharf
fronting the south end of the state tobacco warehouse, lying

between Dugan's and O'Donnell's wharves: Provided, the
said renting shall not in his opinion, interfere with and de-
lay the landing of tobacco at the state warehouse aforesaid;
Provided also, that no contract for such renting shall be
for a longer period than one year; And provided further,
that every such contract shall bu approved by the governor
and council.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That no vessel shall be charg-
ed any wharfage whilst landing any tobacco at the state to-
bacco warehhouse aforesaid, for inspection; Provided ne-
vertheless, that nothing in this section contained, shall be
construed to sanction the lying of such vessels at the tobac-
co warehouse wharf aforesaid, for a longer time than the
tobacco inspectors shall think reasonable for the landing of
said tobacco; And provided also, that if any thing, other

that wharfage shall be charged, any thing in this section to
the contrary notwithstanding.

preference given to them over all other boats.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That Joshua Jones, Dennis Poole, and Henry
M'Ellfresh, of Frederick county, Henry Way.nan, of Anne-
Arundel county, William M. Norwood, Ephraim Etchison,
and Aden Darbey, of Montgomery county, be and they are
hereby appointed commissioners to survey, Jay out and
open, a road not exceeding thirty feet in width, in the best
and straightest direction, taking all circumstances into con-
