CHAP. LXXXIV.

Art Act to authorise the Justices of the Levy Court of
Washington County to levy a sum of money for the
erection of a Bridge over the Antietam, at or near
the old Bridge on Samuel M. Hitt's Farm.

CHAP. 84.

Passed Feb 25, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the justices of the levy court of Washington
county be and they are hereby authorised and empowered,
if they consider the same right and necessary, to levy on
the assessable property of the said county, at such time or
times as the said judges may deem most suitable and con-
venient, such sum or sums of money, as may be sufficient
to build a bridge over the Antietam, at or near the old
bridge on Samuel M. Hitt's farm, in the county afore-

court of the county aforesaid, may examine and decide
concerning the place or situation of erecting the said bridge,
and may determine on the plan and materials of the same,
and may make and enter into any contract or contracts,
with any person or persons, which may be necessary, re-
lating to the erection of the said bridge.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That no levy exceeding in
amount the sum of one thousand dollars, in any one year,
shall be laid by the levy court of Washington county, for
the purpose aforesaid.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to regulate the
issuing of Licenses to Traders, Keepers of Ordinaries,
and others, passed at December Session eighteen hun-
dred and twenty-seven, chapter one hundred and seven-
teen.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the said original act shall not be deemed to ap-
ply to persons who do not buy or sell with a view to profit
in the regular prosecution of some trade or business.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the clerks of the seve-
ral county courts, and of the city court of Baltimore, upon
application of the persons interested, and at such time, and
in such manner as they shall find most convenient, be and
they are hereby authorised and directed, to repay (out of
any money belonging to the state in their hands,) to those
whom, at any time since the first day of May last, they
have licensed in virtue of the said act, a ratable allowance
for the interval between the said day, and that on which
such license was granted; and in licensing hereafter, shall
make a like deduction for the interval between the first day
