Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said James C. De-
bruler shall not be liable for any debt to be hereafter con-
tracted by the said Mary Debruler.

An Act to abolish the Office of Trustee of the State, and
to authorise the Treasurer of the Western Shore to em-
ploy a Clerk.
|
|
|
Office abolished
|
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act the of-
fice of trustee for the state be and the same is hereby abo-
lished; and that so much of the act of assembly passed at
November session seventeen hundred and ninety, chapter
forty-one, which provides for the payment of a salary for
any duties to be performed by the said trustee, be and the
same is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the duties which have
been hitherto performed by the trustee of the state, shall
devolve upon, and be performed by, the treasurer of the
western shore.

May appoint a
clerk.
|
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the treasurer of the
western shore be and he is hereby authorised, to appoint a
proper and suitable clerk, to be employed under his direc-
tion and responsibility, in the treasury, and to assist the said
treasurer in the discharge of his duties, who shall, before
he proceeds to act as such, take an oath well and faithfully
to execute the duties of his office as clerk to the treasurer
of the western shore, which shall be administered by any
justice of the peace of Anne-Arundel county.

His salary
|
Sec. 4. And be it enacted. That the said clerk shall re-
ceive a salary of five hundred dollars per annum, and the
treasurer of the western shore is hereby directed to pay the
said salary, to the said clerk, in quarterly payments, on the
first days of January, April, July and October, out of any
money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
