or more of the jury, and returned by the sheriff to the clerk
of his county, to be by him recorded; and upon such valu-
ation the jury is hereby directed to describe and ascertain
the bounds of the land by them valued, and the nature of
the estate required by the company in the same, and their
valuation shall be conclusive on all persons, and shall on
demand be paid for by the said president and managers to
the owner or owners of the land, or his, her or their legal
representatives, and on payment, or tender of payment
thereof, or deposite of the same in the Bank of Leesburg, or
in any Bank in Frederick-town, in Maryland, to the credit
of the person or persons entitled thereto, the said company
shall be seized of such lands as of an absolute estate in per-

petuity as shall be described as aforesaid, as if conveyed
by the owner or owners to them; Provided, that if the said
bridge shall be abutted on the land of any person or per-
sons now owning a ferry over the river Potomac, then the
value of such ferry shall be assessed to the person or per-
sons in the damages aforesaid; And provided also, that the
damages assessed shall be fully paid or tendered to the par-
ty entitled to receive the same, before the company afore-
said shall be entitled to exercise any act of possession or
ownership on the land aforesaid.

Sec. 14. And be it enacted, That the said company be
and they are hereby authorised, if at any time hereafter
they deem it advisable, to construct a towing path by the
side of the said bridge, to conduct boats from the Virginia
shore to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, to accommodate
the trade of Virginia.

Sec. 15. And be it enacted, That the privileges granted
under this act shall enure to the company herein incorpo-
rated, on the express condition that the said bridge be com-
menced within three years after the passage of this act, and
be completed so as to furnish a safe mode of passage within
two years thereafter.

act shall take effect from and after the confirmation thereo!

ryland, That John Armstrong, of Baltimore county, shall
be and he is hereby authorised and enabled to have, hold,
take, possess and enjoy, any lands, tenements or heredita-
ments, within this state, which he has acquired, or may
hereafter acquire, in the fame, manner and as fully as he
