CHAPTER 195.
A supplement to the act, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and twenty-seven, entitled, an act to incorporate the
Maryland Hospital.

Rules and regulations.
|
Section 1. Be it enacted by
the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the President and Visitors of the Maryland Hospital
(or any number of them not less than twelve,) shall have
power to prescribe such rules and regulations as they may
deem necessary for the management, government, and regulation,
of the Maryland Hospital, and for the admission and discharge
of persons therein or therefrom: which said rules and
regulations shall be binding upon all persons whatsoever.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted,
That the President and Visitors
(or any number of them not less than seven,) shall have full
power and authority to institute an inquiry, whensoever they
may deem it proper or necessary, into the management of the
institution, and the enforcement of the rules thereof; and also,
into the conduct of any of the servants or agents employed
by Doctor John P. McKenzie, in the conduct or management
of said Hospital, and if, upon a specification in writing,
of the causes of complaint submitted to the said Dr. McKenzie,
and on full hearing of the defence of such servant or agents, they
shall deem it proper and necessary to remove such agent from
the said Hospital, they may recommend his or her removal to
the said John P. McKenzie; and it shall be the duty of the
said Doctor John P. McKenzie, upon receiving such recommendation,
and he is hereby required, to remove such servant
or agent, from said Hospital, in conformity to said recommendation.

Condition.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted,
That the said John P. McKenzie
shall be continued in the possession of the Maryland Hospital,
and in the receipt of the clear profits of said Hospital, until
the first of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-four; Provided
nevertheless, that he shall comply with the provisions of this
act.

Case of non-compliance.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted,
That in case the said John P.
McKenzie shall refuse to adopt and comply with the provisions
of this act, that then and in that case the President and
Visitors of said Hospital shall cause such legal proceedings to
be instituted by the Attorney General and his deputies in Baltimore
county court, as shall be expedient and necessary, in
order to try the right of the said McKenzie to hold possession
of the Maryland Hospital, and to bring the question [ ] dispute
between him and the State to a legal adjudication.
