            THOMAS KING CARROLL, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.                                                                                                  1829.

    Sec. 2.  And be it enacted, That the male members of the
said congregation, of the age of twenty-one years, or over,
may and shall, meet on the first Monday in October, in each
and every year, from and after the passage of this act, or within
twenty days thereafter, at the Synagogue of said congregation,
or such other convenient place in the city of Baltimore,
as the electors aforesaid shall designate and appoint, and then
and there elect five persons, members of the said congregation,
be electors thereof, until another election be held in pursuance
of this act.
  CHAP. 140.  

Election of electors.
    Sec. 3.  And be it enacted, That the electors now appointed,
or who may hereafter be elected, or a majority of them, shall
and may meet together, from time to time, and as often as they
may judge expedient, to transact and manage the business of
said society, and superintend and protect the property thereof,
and make such by-laws and regulations for the good government
and orderly management of their proceedings and
temporal concerns, as to them may seem expedient and necessary;
the same not being contrary to the rights, usages, and
discipline of the said Synagogue, or to the laws and constitution
of this state, or of the United States.
Authority of electors.
    Sec. 4.  And be it enacted, That all property, real, personal,
and mixed, said congregation, and bested in any person or
persons, for their use, shall be, and the same is hereby vested
for the use of said congregation, in the electors appointed by
this act, and their successors forever.

                                        CHAPTER 141.

An act to authorise the Governor and Council to appoint an Inspector
    of Lumber for the village of Arkhaven, in Cecil
    county.



Passed Feb. 23, 1830.
    Section 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor and Council of this state be, and they
are hereby authorised and required to appoint one measurer
and inspector of lumber for the village of Arkhaven, in Cecil
county, which said measurer and inspector shall be governed
by the same laws with regard to his management and inspection,
which govern the inspectors of lumber in the city of
Baltimore, and that he shall be allowed twenty cents for measuring
and inspecting every thousand feet, reduced measure,
which said fees shall be paid by the person requiring the limber
to be inspected.
    Appointment—
duty—compensation.
    Sec. 2.  And be it enacted, That before the said measurer
and inspector shall proceed to act as such, he shall take an
oath or affirmation, as the case may be, faithfully to perform
his duty as measurer and inspector of lumber for said village.
