  CHAP. 135.  

Passed Feb. 24, 1830.
                                        CHAPTER 135.

An act to alter and change the name of Henderson Magruder
                  Williams, to Henderson Williams Magruder.

Name changed.
    Section 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall and may be lawful for the said Henderson
Magruder Williams, to take upon himself the name and surname
of Henderson Williams Magruder, in the stead of his
present name and surname; and the name of the said Henderson
Magruder Williams, shall be and is hereby changed and
altered into the name of Henderson William Magruder, and
that the said Henderson Magruder Williams, shall at all times
hereafter be called by and hold and use the surname of Magruder
only, and that the said Henderson Magruder Williams,
be from henceforth called by the name of Henderson Williams
Magruder.
Acts confirmed.
    Sec. 2.  And be it enacted, That all securities, promises,
contracts, assurances, deeds, and lawful acts whatsoever,
heretofore made, or hereafter to be made, by or to the said
Henderson Magruder Williams by the name and surname of
Henderson Williams Magruder, shall be of the same force and
effect, and equally avail, to all intents and purposes, as if the
name and surname of Henderson Williams Magruder had been
the true and proper name and surname of the said Henderson
Magruder Williams from his birth, any law, statute, or custom
to the contrary notwithstanding.

                                        CHAPTER 136.

An act supplementary to an act, passed at December session,
    eighteen hundred and twenty-six, entitled, an act to prevent
    Gaming.

    Fine and imprisonment.
    Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
every person guilty of any of the offences enumerated in the
act to which this is a supplement, shall hereafter on conviction
for the first offence, forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding
one thousand dollars, nor less than fifty dollars and be imprisoned
for thirty days; for the second offence shall forfeit and
pay a sum not exceeding one thousand dollars, and not less
than two hundred dollars, and be imprisoned for a term not
less than six months more than two years.
