examine the situation of Piscataway Creek, in Prince
George's
county, as regards the facility of shipping tobacco from the
warehouse situate on said creek; and if in their opinion, or in
the opinion of a majority of them, the obstructions can be removed
so as to permit the ingress and egress of such boats as
are usually employed in shipping tobacco from said warehouse,
they are hereby authorised and directed to contract with some
person or persons, to remove such obstruction, on the best
obtainable terms, first giving public notice of the time and
place of contracting for the same.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted,
That if in the opinion of said
Commissioners, or a majority of them, it shall be deemed more
conducive to the purposes and objects of this act, to open a
canal or course for the water of said creek, or any portion
thereof, through any points necks, or portions of land on said
creek, they are hereby authorised and directed to cause the
same to be done; and the value and damage thereof to the
owner or owners, under all the circumstances, to be estimated,
and ascertained, and paid in the same manner as is hereinafter
directed in regard to a road.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted,
That if the commissioners appointed
by virtue of this act, or a majority of them, shall be
of opinion that by the exercise of the powers vested in them
by the foregoing sections of this act, it is impracticable for
them, at an expence not exceeding six hundred dollars, to effectually
improve the navigation of said creek, they are hereby
authorised and directed to lay out and open a road from
Piscataway warehouse to such place on said creek, as they or
a majority of them in their judgment shall deem best, and they
shall value and ascertain the injury, if any, sustained by the
owner or owners of the land through which the road shall
pass; and further, they shall pay said owner or owners such
sum as they, the said commissioners, shall believe to be, under
all circumstances, a full and fair equivalent for the injury attained.
And the road, when laid out and opened, shall be a
public road, to be repaired and kept in order in the same manner
as other county roads are.

Draw on inspectors

Sec. 4. And be it enacted,
That the commissioners appointed
by this act be, and they are hereby authorised to draw on the
inspector of tobacco at Piscataway warehouse, for such sum,
not exceeding six hundred dollars, as they shall expend in
pursuance of the provisions of this act, and the said inspector
be, and he is hereby directed to pay any sum not exceeding
six hundred dollars, to the order of the said commissioners, as
soon as the receipts from said warehouse will enable him:
Provided, that not more than three hundred dollars shall be
paid out of the proceeds or receipts of any one year, by the
inspector of said warehouse; which money, when paid by said
inspector, shall be allowed him as a credit by the Levy Court
