    Sec. 3.  And be it enacted, That the said Catharina Myers
shall have and exercise all the right, privileges and immunities,
and be subject to all the legal responsibilities of a feme
sole, in the same manner she would have been if she had
never been married.
  CHAP. 56.  

Feme sole.
    Sec. 4.  And be it enacted, That the said Daniel Myers
shall not be liable for any debt to be hereafter contracted by
the said Catharina Myers.
Liability annulled.

                                        CHAPTER 59.

An act to divorce Otho Williams Callis, from his wife Jane
                                         Ashton Callis.



Passed Feb. 5, 1830.
    Section 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the said
Otho [William] Callis be, and he is hereby divorced from bed,
board and mutual cohabitation with his wife Jane Ashton
Callis.
Divorce.
    Sec. 2.  And be it enacted, That the said Otho [William]
Callis shall not, by virtue of his marriage with the said Jane
Ashton Callis, be authorised to have or claim any right or interest
in any estate, real, personal or mixed, which the said
Jane Ashton Callis may hereafter acquire by purchase or
descent.
Claims annulled.
    Sec. 3.  And be it enacted, That the said Jane Ashton Callis
be, and she is hereby authorised and empowered to make any
contract with any person or persons whatsoever, and to sue
and be sued, in her own name, and without joining her said
husband in any such suits; Provided always, That this act shall
not be understood or construed to authorise the said Jane Ashton
Callis to contract marriage during the life time of her
husband.
Legal privileges—
not to marry again.
    Sec. 4.  And be it enacted, That the said Jane Ashton Callis
shall use and enjoy her maiden name of Jane Ashton Alexander,
and have and exercise all the rights, privileges and immunities,
and be subject to all the legal responsibilities of a
feme sole, in the same manner she would have been if she
had never been married.
