CHAPTER 16.
An act to divorce John Russell and Eleanor, his wife, of Charles
County.

Divorce.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the marriage contract heretofore entered into between John
Russell and Eleanor his wife, be, and the same is henceforth
and forever dissolved, to all intents and purposes, as if the
same had never been solemnized.

CHAPTER 15.
An act to authorise and require Jacob T. Towson, of the town
of Williamsport, in Washington county, to pay over to the
burgess and commissioners of said town, a sum of money,
therein mentioned.

Preamble,
|
WHEREAS, Jacob T. Towson and others,
of the town of
Williamsport, in Washington county, were duly authorised,
by an act passed November session, eighteen hundred and
four, chapter thirty-six, to propose a scheme of a lottery, to
raise a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned: and
whereas, the said Jacob T. Towson (the only survivor of said
commissioners) did, on the thirteenth day of September, eighteen
hundred and twenty-seven, sell the aforesaid scheme to
Samuel Winchester and others, of the city of Baltimore, for
the sum of one hundred dollars; and it appears, that after deducting
expenses, the sum of ninety-two dollars and fifty-five
cents remain in the hands of the said Jacob T. Towson, which
sum he is willing to pay over to the burgess and commissioners
of said town, when legally authorised; therefore,

Payment directed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the said Jacob T. Towson be, and he is hereby authorised
and required to pay over to the burgess and commissioners of
the town of Williamsport aforesaid, the said sum of ninety-two
dollars and fifty-five cents, the same to be applied towards
purchasing a fire engine, or for any other purpose that the said
burgess and commissioners may, in their judgment, deem most
beneficial to said town.
