CHAPTER 14.
An act for the benefit of Henry W. Fitzhugh, now of the city
of Annapolis.
|
Passed Jan. 21, 1830.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
Henry W. Fitzhugh, an officer of the United States' Army,
now stationed in the city of Annapolis, be, and he is hereby
authorised to remove into this state the three following negro
slaves, viz: Franky, Nancy and William, and them to retain as
slaves, so long as he may remain an officer of the United
States' Army, and stationed in this state; Provided nevertheless,
That nothing herein contained, shall be construed to authorise
a sale or disposition of said slaves in this states, otherwise
than by bequest, in a course of distribution, or by operations
of laws.

CHAPTER 15.
An act for the relief of George Shover, of Loudon county, Virginia,
and now confined for debt in the jail of Allegany
county.

Passed Jan. 21, 1830.

WHEREAS, it appears to this General
Assembly, that George
Shover, late a citizen of Loudon county, Virginia, is confined
in the jail of Allegany county for debt, and for no
other cause—Therefore,

Preamble.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the said George Shover, upon his compliance with all the requisitions
of the insolvent laws of this state, except that which
requires a residence in this state for two years previous to the
application for the benefit of the insolvent law, shall be discharged
from further confinement in said jail, and shall be entitled
to every immunity and privilege that he would have
been entitled to, if he had complied with the said requisition
of residence.
