proved by the said commissioners, in the penalty 'of one
thousand dollars, conditioned for the true and faithful per-
formance of the several and respective duties hereby imposed,
which bond shall be recorded in the clerk's office of the county
court of said county, and a copy thereof, under the seal of
said court, shall be as sufficient evidence as the original; and
the said clerk, when appointed, shall also take and subscribe
the following oath, or affirmation, as the case may be, to
wit: I, A B, do swear, or affirm, that as clerk to the corn-
faithfully, to the best of my skill and judgment, execute
the duties of said office, without favour, affection or preju-
dice, so help me God; which oath, or affirmation, any one
of the said commissioners is hereby authorised to adminis-
ter; and the said clerk shall be subjected to the same pe-
nalties and forfeitures for nonperformance or neglect of offi-
cial duty, as are prescribed by the existing laws in relation
as well to the several matters and things which the clerk of
the county court of said county is legally directed and re-
quired to perform, under the authority of the levy court,
as likewise to those which appertain to the office of the pre-
sent clerk of the commissioners of the tax for said county.

CHAP. 21.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That in case of a vacancy oc-
curring in the office of clerk to the commissioners, as crea-
ted by this act, in consequence of death, resignation, remov-
al or disqualification, the same shall be supplied as soon
thereafter as may be practicable, in the manner prescribed
by the preceding section of this act.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the said clerk to the
commissioners to be appointed in virtue of this act as afore-
said, shall be entitled to and receive as a compensation for
his services, such sum annually, as the said commissioners
may direct, not exceeding the sum of two hundred and fifty
dollars, to be levied on the assessable property of said coun-
ty, collected and paid over as other county charges.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That upon the appointment of a
clerk to the commissioners as aforesaid, the clerk of Anne-
Arundel county court shall, on demand of the said clerk to
the said commissioners, by order of the said commissioners,
forthwith deliver over to the said clerk of the commission-
ers, all the books, accounts, papers and documents, belong-
ing or in any manner appertaining to the levy court of said
county; and shall annually, on or before the first Monday of
March, furnish to and lay before the said commissioners all
copies of such lists, accounts, papers and documents, as may
he useful and necessary to the said commissioners in ascer-
taining the county charges, and according to the directions
which he may from time to time receive from the said com-
missioners, for which services he shall have and receive such
fees as by law he is entitled for like services; and in case
