CHAP. CLXXVI.

An Act for the relief of Mary Beckly, of Washington

Passed Mar 13, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the mar-
riage contract between Mary Beckly and Henry Beckly,
is hereby declared to be annulled and destroyed, and the
said Mary Beckly is hereby declared to be divorced from
her husband Henry Becklv, as entirely and to as full ex-
tent, as if the said Henry Beckly were dead, or as if she,
the said Mary Beckly, had never been joined in matrimony
with him.

CHAP. CLXXVII.

An Act to exempt the Mount Hope Literary and Scien-
tific Institution from Taxation.

Passed Mar 13,1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the lot and buildings thereon, belonging to
the Mount Hope Literary and Scientific Institution in Bal-
timore county, and partly in the city of Baltimore, and the
library, and other property of the said institution, shall be
and the same is hereby exempted from taxation, for the term
of ten years; Provided, the said lot and buildings shall so
long continue to be used as a literary institution.

CHAP. CLXXVIII.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to incorporate
the Port Deposit and Chesapeake Turnpike Road
Company.

Passed Mat 13, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That so much of the act, to which this is a supple-
ment, as requires the stockholders in the Port Deposit and
Chesapeake Turnpike Road Company, to meet on the first
Monday in May eighteen hundred and twenty-nine, and on
the first Monday in May in each succeeding year, be and
same is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said stockbolders
shall meet on the first Monday in May in the year eighteen
hundred and thirty-one, and on the first Monday in May in
each succeeding year thereafter, and the said stockholders
are hereby authorised and empowered to meet at any time
or times, to be by them, or a majority of them, delermined;
previous to the first Monday of May eighteen hundred and
thirty-one, to perform and. discharge the duties required of
them by the act to which this is a supplement
