CHAP. 162.

the state, by the state wharfinger, or his agents, in the name
of the mayor and city council of Baltimore, and for their
use, by the city harbour-master, or his agents, or by the
owner or owners of any private wharf or wharves respec-
tively, or by their respective agents, in the name of such
owner or owners respectively, in like manner as directed
in the preceding section.

Act to be in force
from 1st of May
next

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall be in force
from and after the first clay of May next.

An Act to authorise certain alterations in the Court-
House of Baltimore County.

rised

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the commissioners of Baltimore county be
and they are hereby authorised and empowered, to make
such change or alteration in the orphans court room in the
court-house of Baltimore county, as they may deem neces-
sary to effect the object for which said room was designed,
and the expenses of such alteration shall be apportioned and
levied on the city and county, and collected as other coun-
ties levies now are.

A Further Additional Supplement to an Act to regulate
the Inspection of Tobacco.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That hereafter no tobacco shall be passed, or ac-
counted lawful tobacco, unless the same shall be packed in
hogsheads not exceeding fifty inches in the length of the
staves, and seventy-six inches in the whole diameter with-
in the staves, at the crose and bilge, and the owner of to-
bacco pocked in any hogshead of greater dimensions shall
repack the same in sizeable hogsheads as herein before ex-
pressed and directed, at his own expense, before the same

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That no inspector or in-
spectors of tobacco in this state shall require any owner
or owners of tobacco, heretofore packed in hogsheads va-
rying from the dimensions required by the act of assembly

passed at November session 1801, chapter 63, section 125,

ed by said act, before the first day of December next, any
law to the contrary hereof notwithstanding.
