CHAP. CLII.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to authorise

Passed Mar 10,1829

the Levy Court of Frederick County to levy a sum of
money to purchase a Tract of Land and build a House
thereon, for the use of the Paupers, and sell the pre-
sent Poor-house of said County, and for other pur-
poses.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the levy court of Frederick county be and
they are hereby authorised and empowered, if they shall
deem it expedient, to dispose of the small farm lately pur-
chased by them in virtue of the law to which this is a sup-
plement, either by sale, or exchange for another farm that
may be deemed by them more suitable for that purpose, and
when the whole purchase money is paid, to make convey-
ance thereof to the purchaser, and that the said levy court
are authorised to purchase another farm, not exceeding
three hundred acres, in some suitable part of said county,
if they shall think proper, and to levy such further sum or
sums of money as to them shall be deemed reasonable and
proper, to complete the purchase and buildings thereon,
any thing in the law to which this is a supplement to the
contrary notwithstanding.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That in the event of the levy
court not making another purchase, or a disposition of the
farm lately purchased by them, that they may, at their
meeting in May next, levy such further sum of money as
they may deem proper, in addition to the sum contemplat-
ed to be raised by the original law, and not exceeding six
thousand dollars, to enable them to build such house as they

may adjudge to be suitable for the poor for Frederick county.
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the levy court are hereby
authorised to appoint the keeper of the poor's-house and ma-
nager of the farm, and the entire establishment after the
house is completed, and with such an allowance as the levy
court may think reasonable, any law heretofore passed on
that subject to the contrary thereof notwithstanding.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the levy court may al-
low to the trustees of the poor, and to their clerk, such an
allowance for their services and attendance at the poor's-
house in the discharge of their duties, as they deem right,
not exceeding two dollars each per day.

CHAP. CLIII.

Passed Mar 10, 1829

An Act to authorise a transfer of a part of a Lot of
Ground in the Town of Liberty, in Frederick Coun-
ty, for the purposes therein mentioned.
