CHAP. 129

shall not affect the rights acquired by any person or persons
who may have heretofore obtained, and be entitled to use
a license under the laws of this state, relating to lotteries
or the sale of lottery tickets therein.

Sec. 21. And be it enacted, That in case any person or
persons shall, within this state, propose or offer to draw or
dispose of any lottery or lotteries, or other device or game
of chance, or any scheme or schemes of any lottery or lot-
teries, or other device or game of chance, which the lotte-
ry commissioner! shall believe to be unauthorised by the laws
of this state, the said commissioners shall be and they are

general, or any of his deputies, in behalf of this state, to
sue out ef any county court, or of the high court of chance-
ry, a writ of injunction, to restrain such person or persons
from proceeding in the drawing of any such lottery or lot-
teries, or other device or game of chance, until the rights
of the parties can be determined.

Compensation of

commissioners

Sec. 22. And be it enacted, That the compensation of
the commissioners of lotteries and their clerk, shall be de-
pendent upon and be received out of the funds derived from
the avails of lotteries drawn or to be drawn during the cur-
rent year.

CHAP. CXXX.

Passed Mar 3, 1829

An Act to divorce John B. Scott, of the City of Balti-
more, from sideline his Wife.

Marriage declared
null and void

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That John B. Scott, of the city of Baltimore, in
the state of Maryland, be thenceforth divorced from his
wife, Adeline; and the marriage heretofore had and solem-
nized between them, is hereby declared to be henceforth
and for ever null and void; and they are hereby declared to
be mutually released from all and every duty and obligation,
and benefit and advantage, growing out and in conse-
quence of the said marriage, so far as the same are cogniza-
ble by the laws of the country.

Passed Mar 6,1829

An Act to authorise the Governor and Council to appoint
an Inspector and Measurer of Lumber, and a Mea-
surer of Coals, in the Town of Williams-Port, Wash-
ington County.
