sessable property of said county, a sum of money not ex-
ceeding six thousand dollars, to carry into effect the provi-
sions of the act to which this is a supplement; Provided,

part of the above sum authorised by this act to be levied;
And provided that not more than one thousand dollars be
levied in any one year.

CHAP. 103.
Provisos

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said trustees of the
poor be and they hereby are authorised and required, to ap-
ply the sum or sums authorised to be levied as aforesaid, or
so much thereof as may be necessary, to the payment, in

tageous, for land purchased, and buildings authorised to be
erected thereon for the use of the poor in Charles county.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That such out houses as may
be erected on the land authorised to be purchased by the
said trustees of the poor may be of brick or such other ma-
terial as they may deem most advisable.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the said trustees of the
poor be and they hereby are authorised and required, to sell
and convey the present poor's-house, and lot of ground at-

they may deem most advisable, the proceeds of which sale
shall be applied to carry into effect the provisions of this
act, and the original to which this is a supplement.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the levy court of said
county be and they hereby are authorised, to allow to the
trustees of the poor of said county, such sum as they (the
levy court) may deem necessary, as a compensation to said
trustees for their trouble and expenses in carrying into ef-
fect the provisions of this act, and the original to which this
is a supplement, and to levy the same, for the use of the
said trustees, upon the assessable property of the county,
provided the sum so to be levied does not exceed five hun-
dred dollars.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the provisions of the act
to which this is a supplement, inconsistent with the provi-

sions of this act, he and the same are hereby repealed; Pro-
vided that nothing in this act contained, shall be construed
so as to make void any act done, or contract entered into,
under or by virtue of the authority of the original act to
which this is a supplement.
