specified, he shall give said notice as soon thereafter as pos-
sible.

339. The Clerk of the Court who receives said application,
certificate and affidavits, shall file and carefully preserve the
same, and shall keep in his office open to public inspection
complete dockets Math full and detailed indexes containing
the names, recorded in an orderly and systematic way, of all
applicants and of all signers upon all applications together
with their respective addresses; and after giving the notices,
hereinbefore required, if no cause be shown as hereinbefore
provided and in cases in which the objections shall be over-
ruled or in which the Court shall approve of and direct the
granting and issuing of the license, shall issue to the applicant
or applicants the license applied for upon receiving from the
applicant or applicants, the following sum or license fee, viz.:
If the license be for twelve months, and to sell alcoholic or
fermented beverages by the drink or in quantities not more
than four and seven-eighths gallons and such license is here-
in defined to be a retail license, the sum of two hundred dol-
lars; if the license is for twelve months, and to sell alcoholic
or fermented beverages in quantities not less than a pint and
not to be drunk on the premises, and such license is herein
defined to be a wholesale license, the said Clerk shall inquire
of the applicant, under oath by such Clerk administered, as
to the value of the stock of alcoholic or fermented beverages
intended to be kept on hand in the business he proposes to
conduct under the license applied for, and if it shall appear
from the statement then made under oath that the value of the
applicant's stock of spirituous or fermented liquors will not
exceed one thousand dollars the license fee shall be two hun-
dred dollars; if more than one thousand dollars and not ex-
ceeding two thousand dollars, the license fee shall be two
hundred and fifty dollars; if more than two thousand dollars,
the license fee shall be three hundred dollars. If the license
fee is for twelve months and to sell alcoholic or fermented
beverage in original package as filled and prepared for de-
livery by any brewer or brewing company, and such license
is herein defined to be a brewer's license, the license fee shall
be five hundred dollars. Before issuing any license under this
Act the Clerk of the Circuit Court or his acting deputy issu-
ing the same shall ask the applicant or applicant whether he,
