58 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SECTION 1. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 97-0 of Article 21 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Talbot
County," sub-title "Easton," as enacted by Chapter 458 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1906 be,
and the same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after June 1st, 1920.

CHAPTER 32.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Cum-
berland to issue bonds to the amount of one million dol-
lars for the purpose of general improvements within the
limits of the City of Cumberland, and to submit the ques-
tion of the issuance of said bonds to the voters of said
city, and to provide for the advertisement and sale of
same, and the redemption of same at maturity together
with the interest thereon when and as the same becomes
due, and payable, and repealing any Act or part thereof
inconsistent herewith.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land. That the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland he
and it is hereby authorized and empowered to issue bonds to
the amount of one million dollars, and to sell the same; said
bonds shall be of the denomination of one thousand ($1,-
000.00) dollars, and said bonds shall be exempt from State,
county and municipal taxes; said bonds to be signed by the
Mayor of the. City of Cumberland and attested by the. City
Clerk, with the corporate seal of the said city thereunto at-
tached ; said bonds to bear interest at the rate of not more
than five per centum (5%) per annum, payable semi-annu-
ally for which interest proper coupons are to be attached to
said bonds; said bonds to lie payable to the amount of twenty-
five thousand ($25.000.00) dollars, in each year after the year
of their issue according to the serial number of said bonds;
provided that the general election held in the City of Cum-
berland in March. 1920. or at a special election ordered by
said Mayor and City Council (said Mayor and City Council
