CHAPTER 288.
AN ACT to settle and cause to be dismissed the litigation now
pending between the State of Maryland and N. Winslow
Williams, and Robert P. Graham and Thomas W. Sim-
mons, former Secretaries of State.
WHEREAS, By various Acts of the General Assembly there
have been received by the Secretaries of State certain sums,
which said amounts were deemed by the General Assembly to
be compensation to them for the extra work and labor which
the said Acts respectively imposed upon them, and which were
accepted and retained by said Secretaries of State in good
faith as such compensation; and
WHEREAS, Suits have been brought in Baltimore City
against Robert P. Graham and N. Winslow Williams, former
Secretaries of State, to recover the amounts so retained by
them under and by virtue of said Acts of the General Assem-
bly, and in Anne Arundel County against Thomas W. Sim-
mons, former Secretary of State, for the same cause.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That upon payment of all Court costs that may have
accrued in any of the Courts of this State by reason of the
prosecution of the suits of the State against N. Winslow Wil-
liams, Robert P. Graham and Thomas W. Simmons, that the
suits so brought and impending, shall be by the Attorney
General of the State entered "agreed and settled," and any
judgment rendered in said suits entered "settled."

AN ACT to repeal Article 23, Section 293, of the Annotated
Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland, title "Corpora-
tions, '' sub-title "Railroads.''
