the time of said sale. Provided, nothing herein contained
shall be construed to interfere with or defeat any sale of real
estate made by said Treasurer heretofore, or any proceedings
thereunder.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 20.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Cumberland to close Primrose Alley between the
northeast side of Decatur street and southwest side of
Bellevue street, said alley running from the northeast
boundary line of Decatur street to the southwest bound-
ary line of Bellevue street, said alley running between
the properties of the Allegany Hospital located on both
sides of said alley and running into Bellevue street which
ends at said alley, said alley being enclosed on three sides
by the properties of the Allegany Hospital and a small
section of Bellevue street which ends at said alley, and to
empower Commissioners to award compensation to any
person or persons owning property on said alley which
may be closed who may be effected thereby.
WHEREAS, The Allegany Hospital of Cumberland, Allegany
County, in the State of Maryland, now owns all the property
abutting on said Primrose alley on three sides thereof and
said alley is a blind alley and of no use or benefit to the gen-
eral public of the City of Cumberland but is only of value to
the said hospital; and

WHEREAS, Certain improvements and additions are now
contemplated by said hospital in which said alley will be
necessary and will be included; and

WHEREAS, Said alley hereinafter described by courses and
distances will be of no further use or benefit to the public but
will only be of use and benefit to the said hospital in connec-
tion with its improvements; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered to close said Prim-
