454. LAWS OF MARYLAND. [ CH. 256

as Section 99-A, to follow immediately after Section 99 of
said Article, and to read as follows:

99-A. The Judges of the Orphans' Court in Howard
County shall receive the sum of six dollars ($6.00) for every
day's attendance upon the sessions of said Court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 256.

AN ACT to authorize "The Commissioners of Hurlock to
issue bonds for the purpose of purchasing a lot of land in
the town of Hurlock, Maryland, for the purpose of erect-
ing a suitable building thereupon, for the keeping of fire
fighting apparatus, and for the purpose of purchasing a
fire fighting apparatus.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the, General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of purchasing a lot of land and
erecting a building thereupon for the purpose of purchasing
fire fighting apparatus, the Commissioners of Hurlock be, and
they are herein authorized and empowered to borrow money
on the faith and credit of the said town, not to exceed, in the
aggregate, the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), and
issue bonds therefor, as hereinafter directed, to be signed by
the Chairman of the said Town Commissioners and counter-
signed by the Treasurer thereof, with the seal of the Commis-
sioners of Hurlock affixed thereto.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said bonds shall be
issued in the denominations of one hundred dollars ($100.00),
with coupons attached thereto, for the payment of the interest
thereon semi-annually on the first day of January and July
in each and every year until the maturity thereof, said coupons
to have the signature of the Town Treasurer printed or writ-
ten thereon, said bonds shall be dated on the first day of July,
A. D. 1920; shall bear interest from the date thereof at a rate
not exceeding six per cent per annum, payable semi-annually
as aforesaid, and shall be exempt from county and municipal
taxation. The said bonds shall be numbered from one to fifty,
both inclusive, and shall be so issued that five hundred dollars
