and that such levy shall be in addition to the special levies
now required to be made by law.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws of a local nature inconsistent herewith are hereby re-
pealed.

CHAPTER 240.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Common
Council of Union Bridge, in Carroll County, to issue and
sell coupon bonds of said town to an amount not to ex-
ceed fifteen thousand dollars, and to apply the proceeds
of sale thereof to the purchase of a lot and the erection
of a Town Hall building thereon and to apply any balance
to improvements of 'the streets of the town and to provide
for the levy and collection of town taxes to pay the inter-
est and principal of said bonds.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and Common Council of Union Bridge,
a municipal corporation of the State of Maryland, be and it
is hereby authorized and empowered to issue registered coupon
bonds of said corporation in a sum not exceeding fifteen thou-
sand dollars, and of the denomination of $500, and to be pay-
able forty years from the date of issue, the first ten of said
bonds redeemable however at ithe pleasure of said Mayor and
Common Council of Union Bridge at any time after 10 years
from their respective dates and to bear interest at a rate not
to exceed five per centum per annum, payable semi-annually
on the first day of January and July in every year; and each
of said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and the seal of the
corporation thereto affixed, attested by the Clerk of the Mayor
and Common Council of Union Bridge, and consecutively
numbered from 1 to 30 both inclusive, and each of the coupons
of said bonds to be signed by the Mayor or a facsimile of his
signature stamped thereon.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That said bonds shall
not be sold except for cash, and it is hereby further expressly
provided, that none of said bonds shall be sold at less than
their face value, and that all of said bonds shall be exempt
