308 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [ CH. 165

CHAPTER 165.

AN ACT to repeal Article 36., Section 28 of the Annotated
Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland, title "Fees of
Officers," sub-title "Sheriffs," and to re-enact the same
with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 36, Section 28 of the Annotated Code of
Public Civil Laws of Maryland, title "Fees of Officers," sub-
title "Sheriffs," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

28. Sheriffs shall be entitled to charge and receive the
following fees, to wit:
For serving writ and return........................ $ .60

For taking bail bond.............................. .50

For collecting officers' fees, for every hundred, six per

cent.
For every commitment and release.................. .40

For empaneling a jury............................ 3.00

For serving scire facias, including the person sum-
moned, for each person summoned.................. .40

For serving citation, for each person summoned....... .60

For executing a warrant of re-survey, per day......... 3.00

For summoning evidences to prove the bounds of land,

for each person summoned........................ .60

If empowered to swear evidences, for every witness

sworn by him................................... .20

For serving subpoena and return................... .60

For keeping a prisoner in jail and finding him victuals,

per day ....................................... .30

For serving a writ of possession in ejectment and re-
turn ........................................... 3.00

For serving an ejectment and return................ 2.00

For serving an attachment of contempt and return....... 2.00

For serving writ of estrepement or injunction and re-
turn .......................................... 2.00

For serving ue exeat and return..................... 3.00

For serving a copy of declaration, short note, nar and

notice or process................................. .20

For summoning appraisers to value goods taken by at-
tachment, fieri facias or replevin, for each appraiser
summoned .......................................40
