missioners of Baltimore County shall appropriate such sum as
may be necessary to meet such deficiency and they are au-
thorized to levy such tax upon the assessable property of Bal-
timore County as may be necessary to raise such sum.
And the Treasurer of Baltimore County shall keep such
special fund separate under the name of the Policemen's
Special Fund of Baltimore County.
SECTION 438G. That the County Commissioners of Balti-
more County be and they are hereby authorized to retire
from office in the Police Department of Baltimore County auy
permanent member thereof who has become permanently dis-
abled while in the active performance of duty or has per-
formed faithful service in the department for a period of not
less than twenty consecutive years, and place the member so
retired upon a pension roll and allow to each pensioner an-
nually an amount equal to one-half the yearly amount received
by him at the time of his retirement, payable in monthly in-
stalments, that no member of the Police Department of Balti-
more County shall be so retired until he shall have been ex-
amined by the Board of Examiners herein provided for and
their findings as to the disability assigned as reason for a
retirement shall have been certified by them to the County
Commissioners of Baltimore County; and provided that mem-
bers in the service of the Police Department at the time of
the passage of this Act shall be credited with the amount of
time which they shall have served in said department to the
same extent as though they had served such period in said de-
partment after the passage of this Act.
SECTION 438H. That the County Commissioners of Balti-
more County be and they are hereby authorized to make such
provision for pensioning the widow and infant children of
policemen who have been killed in the active discharge of
their duty as members of the Police Department as in the
judgment of such Commissioners shall be just and proper.
