CHAPTER 120.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 4 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "City of Balti-
more," sub-title "Courts" (Revised Edition of 1915), to
follow immediately after Section 381 of said Article, to be
known as Section 381 A, and the same providing for
medical examinations, service and advice in connection
with prosecutions and trials in the Criminal Courts of
Baltimore City, and authorizing an annual expenditure
therefor, payable by the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more, not to exceed five thousand dollars.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be and the same is hereby
added to Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Courts" (Revised
Edition of 1915), said additional section to follow immedi-
ately after Section 381 of said Article, to be known as Section
381 A, and the same to read as follows:
SECTION 381 A. The Judges of the Supreme Bench of
Baltimore City are authorized and empowered to appoint such
qualified physician or physicians as they may deem proper to
make medical examinations and to render medical service and
advice in connection with prosecutions and trials in the Crimi-
nal Courts of Baltimore City, and for the purpose of compen-
sating such physician or physicians as they may so appoint,
as well as for the payment of such expenses as may be neces-
sary in connection with said work, the said Judges of the Su-
preme Bench may expend annually such amount as, in their
judgment, may be necessary, not exceeding, however, the
sum of five thousand dollars; and the Chief Judge of the Su-
preme Bench shall, at the beginning of each month, certify
to the Mayor and the Register of Baltimore City the amount
due for said purposes during the preceding month, and the
same shall thereupon be paid by the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after January 1, 1921.
