and treasurer, on or before the 30th day of June following.
And the said Commissioners shall not expend any more money
in any fiscal year than is received by them from all sources of
revenue, due and owing to the said city. And any Commis-
sioner or Commissioners voting to authorize such expenditure
shall be personally responsible for all such sum or sums of
money so authorized to be paid.
SECTION 57. Each of the five Commissioners shall receive
the sum of not more than five dollars for his attendance at
each regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners. The
Mayor, in addition to the sum which he receives as Commis-
sioner, shall receive a further sum of one hundred dollars per
year as Mayor. Neither the Mayor nor any Commissioner
shall receive from the corporate funds any other or further
sum of money or compensation than is provided by this sec-
tion, except such ^expenses as he may incur in executing some
special service as Commissioner, and except such other sums
as he is now authorized to receive for his services in the per-
formance of duties imposed upon him by the Charter of
Cambridge in meetings of the Commissioners for specified
purposes other than the regular meetings of the Board, that
the five dollars herein provided to be paid each Commissioner
for his attendance at each regular meeting of the Board shall
be paid for but one meeting in each week.
SECTION 58-A. That in addition to the powers vested in
the Commissioners of Cambridge by the aforegoing section,
the said Commissioners shall have power to regulate, control
or prohibit upon any land within the corporate limits of Cam-
bridge, by ordinance, the building, erection or the mainte-
nance of any building or structure that works an injury to any
person or the enjoyment of property, and to prevent the
planting, raising or cultivating of any crop, of any kind, the
existence of which within said corporate limits injures any
person in health, safety, or the enjoyment of property, and the
said Commissioners, are further authorized and empowered,
in their discretion, at any time, by order to be set forth in
their minutes, to increase the salary of any officer or employee
from the amount now fixed by the Charter of Cambridge to
such an amount as may be reasonable and necessary to procure
the services that are required to execute the functions of the
municipal government of the city, this to apply to only such
officers or employees as are elected or appointed by the Com-
