CHAPTER 679.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 335
of the Code of Public Local Laws for Anne Arundel
County, title "Sheriff," as the same was repealed and
re-enacted by Section 214B of Chapter 162 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1916.
SECTION 1. Re it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 335 of the Code of Public Local Laws for
Anne Arundel County, title "Sheriff," as said section was
repealed and re-euacted by Section, 214B of Chapter 162 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1916. be and
said section is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments so as to read as follows:

335. The Sheriff shall be allowed a warden to the jail to
be appointed by the County Commissioners from whom ho
shall receive a salary not exceeding fifty dollars per month
to be paid by the County Commissioners at their first regular
meeting in each month. The Sheriff shall receive an allow-
ance of not more than twelve dollars per month for wages of
the cook for the prisoners in jail and an allowance of not more
than forty dollars per month for a night watchman for said
jail, and he shall be allowed for his actual expenditures for
food, provisions and necessary supplies furnished the prison-
ers confined in jail, provided the total cost of the food so fur-
nished shall not exceed the sum of fifty cents per day for each
prisoner so confined and for the warden, the night watchman
and the cook. The Sheriff shall keep an itemized account of all
such expenditures, and in the form and system prescribed by
the County Commissioners, and shall make a report of such ex-
penditures according to such form and system to the County
Commissioners at their first meeting in every month, accom-
panied by a statement showing the actual number of prisoners
daily supplied during such period; and the County Com-
missioners upon examination of said account and finding the
same to be correct and within the limits herein provided, shall
pay the same to the Sheriff.
