objects and purposes and to exercise the powers and privileges
conferred upon it by this Act.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That the objects of the
said body corporate shall be:

To encourage the making of devises and bequests in wills
and gifts of money, particularly by those who have made
their money in the City of Baltimore and State of Maryland;
to be used in said city and State, for charitable and educational
purposes and for the improvement and betterment of living
conditions in said city and State.

2. To provide means whereby those interested in the wel-
fare of the City of Baltimore and State of Maryland, who are
not interested in any special charitable organization or form
of welfare work, may co-ordinate their gifts to the best ad-
vantage of the city and State through a permanent and com-
petent board of trustees familiar with the needs of the city
and State, to whom funds may be entrusted for wise distribu-
tion.

3. To receive and manage funds and distribute the same
and the income thereof for the assistance and promotion of
charitable and educational purposes in the City of Baltimore
and State of Maryland in such manner as will, in the judg-
ment of the trustees of said body corporate, best make for the
physical, mental, moral and social relief, assistance and im-
provement of the inhabitants of said city and State, regardless
of race, color or creed, and especially (without in any man-
ner limiting or restricting the foregoing general statement of
objects but rather in enlargement and extension thereof) for
the following purposes:

(a) For the care of children and the poor, the sick, the
aged and the helpless and the welfare of individuals and
families.

(b) For assisting hospitals, asylums, charitable organiza-
tions, educational institutions, medical organizations and other
bodies engaged in community welfare work, whether incorpor-
ated or not and whether now or hereafter in existence and
whether supported by private contributions or public taxa-
tion or both, provided the same shall not be operated for
profit.

(c) For the improvement of living and working conditions
and for providing facilities for exercise and recreation.
