CHAPTER 656.

AN ACT to add three new sections to Article 77 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland, title "Public Education," sub-
title "The State Board of Education," to be known as
Sections 11A, 11B and 11C, and to follow immediately
after Section 11 of said Article, requiring the State Board
of Education to prescribe courses for the teaching of
Americanism and the ideals and principles underlying
the government of the United States.

(Vetoed.)

CHAPTER 657.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
St. Mary's County to levy one thousand ($1,000) dollars
to aid in the erection of a graded school building between
Dynard and Clements, if arrangements can be made for
such a building, or for the erection of a school building
at Dynard, in said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of St. Mary's County
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy one
thousand ($1,000) dollars in the next levy to aid in the erec-
tion of a graded school building between Dynard and Clements,
but if arrangements cannot be made for the erection of such
a building, then the amount shall be used for the erection of
a school building in Dynard in said county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

Approved April 16, 1920.

CHAPTER 658.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 9 of
Article 64-A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Merit System," as enacted by Chapter 41 of the Acts
of 1920, including army and navy nurses among those
to be given credit and specifying the credit to be given.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 9 of Article 64-A of the Annotated Code
