pended balance and the accrued interest thereon now on
deposit to the credit of the said Mayor, Counselor and Alder-
men of the City of Annapolis at the Annapolis Banking &
Trust Company.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all acts or parts
of acts, laws and parts of laws, inconsistent with this Act
or any provision thereof be, and the same are, hereby repealed
to the extent of such inconsistency.

CHAPTER 638.

AN ACT to add a newr section to Article 4 of the Public Local
Laws of Maryland, to be known as Section 371-A,
entitled "City of Baltimore," sub-title, "Courts," sub-
heading, "Salaries of Clerks of Courts" (also known as
Section 371-A of the Charter of Baltimore City, Revised
Edition, 1915), the effect of said section being to author-
ize the Clerks of the Baltimore City Court, of the Superior
Court of Baltimore City and of the Court of Common
Pleas of Baltimore City to appoint chief clerks for their
respective Courts, said appointments to be subject to
confirmation by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City,
and further fixing the salaries of said chief clerks so
appointed and confirmed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be added to Article 4 of the
Public Local Laws of Maryland, to be known as Section 371-A,
entitled "City of Baltimore," sub-title, "Courts," sub-head-
ing, "Salaries of Clerks of Courts" (and also known as Sec-
tion 371-A of the Charter of Baltimore City, Revised Edition,
1915), so as to read as follows:

371-A. The Clerks of the Baltimore City Court, of the
Superior Court of Baltimore City and of the Court of Com-
mon Pleas of Baltimore City, be and they are hereby author-
ized and directed to appoint Chief Clerks for each of their
respective courts, said appointments to be subject to confirma-
tion by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City; and when
said appointments have been so made and confirmed, the
Comptroller of the State of Maryland be, and he is hereby,
