82-A. Before any deed for the conveyance of real estate in
Frederick County shall be received for record by the Clerk of
the Circuit Court thereof, the person offering said deed for
record shall submit the same to the Clerk of the County Com-
missioners of said County, who shall thereupon make transfer
on the County Assessment Books of the said property to the
name of the new owner or owners thereof, and as evidence of
said transfer, shall stamp upon the said deed his certificate
thereof, and no deed shall be received for record without such
certificate.

This Section shall not apply or be construed to apply in any
manner to deeds offered or received for record between March
25th and April 5th, both inclusive, of each year. All Acts or
parts of Acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 554.

AN ACT to make valid deeds, mortgages, bonds of convey-
ances, bills of sale and all other conveyances of real and!
personal property, or of any interest therein or agree-
ments relating thereto, defective in acknowledgement or
in the certificate thereof, or when the official character of
the officer taking the acknowledgment has not been stated
in the body of the certificate or certified to, as required by
law, or when the conveyance or agreement has not been
witnessed or sealed, or when any deed heretofore made to.
or from, a corporation prior to the payment of bonus tax
which was afterwards paid, or any mortgage or assign-
ment of mortgage defectively sworn to or not sworn to
at all.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Chapter 396 of the Acts of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, Session of 1918, entitled "An Act to make,
valid deeds, mortgages, bonds of conveyances, bills of sale
and all other conveyances of real and personal property, or
of any interest, defective in acknowledgment or in the certifi-
cate thereof, or when the official character of the officer taking
the acknowledgment has not been stated in the body of the
certificate or certified to, as required bylaw, or when the
