1130 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 543

CHAPTER 548.

AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Prince George's County," sub-
title. '' Roads and Highways,'' as the same was enacted by
Chapter 801 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1914.

SECTION 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new Section to be known as Section 278a is hereby
added to Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Prince George's County," sub-title "Roads and
Highways," as the same was enacted by Chapter 801 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1914 to read as
follows:

SECTION 278a. The voters of any election district may pro-
vide for a special election district road fund by bonds or by
an annual levy to be spent wholly within said election district
for road and bridge purposes in the following manner. Upon
the petition of fifty or more registered voters within any elec-
tion district addressed to the Board of Supervisors of Elec-
tions, setting forth that they desire the voters of said district
to vote upon the question as to whether or not there shall be a
special district levy for road and bridge purposes, and shall
further set forth in said petition the annual tax levy to be
made which shall not exceed twenty-five cents on the one hun-
dred dollars and the number of years to same is to be levied,
which shall not exceed ten years or the amount of bonds de-
sired to be issued, which shall not exceed five per cent of the
assessed value of the property within said district, and pro-
vided said petition is filed forty clays before any general elec-
tion, the Board of Supervisors of Elections shall cause to be
printed on the ballot for such election district at the next gen-
eral election the proposition presented by such petition in sub-
stantially the following form: "For road tax of........cents

for........years" and "Against road tax of.......cents for

.......years," or if said petition be for the issuance of bonds

"For $.......road bonds" and "Against $.......road bonds,"

using the figures set forth in the petition and providing a box
opposite each line on the ballot as in the case of constitutional
amendments. Not more than one proposition shall be pre-
sented at any general election and if more than one petition is
filed with said Supervisors for any election district that propo-
