SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 768 of Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (Revised Edition 1915), title "City
of Baltimore." sub-title "Police Commissioners," be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as
to read as follows:
768. Each of said matrons, and substitute matrons when
employed, shall receive a salary of twenty-five dollars per
week and the Superintendent of the Matrons a salary of
twenty-seven dollars and fifty cents per week to be paid by
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore and it shall be in-
cluded in the annual estimate of expenses by the said Board of
Police Commissioners, certified by the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the 15th day of January, 1920, and be declared an
emergency law and necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public health or safety.

CHAPTER 541.
AN ACT repealing Chapter 469 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland during the Session of 1916, and
re-enacting the same, authorizing, empowering and di-
recting the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
to issue bonds to an amount not to exceed thirty thousand
dollars ($30,000), for the purpose of building, improving
and relocating the public road from the end of the im-
proved road at Old Germantown to the State road near
Seneca Creek by the way of the new road through the
lands of James H. Jones, in said Montgomery County,
provided that certain donations be made, as hereinafter
provided, to the said County Commissioners to be applied
by them for the purposes herein; and to collect and levy
taxes in the Sixth Election District of said county for the
payment of said bonds and interest coupons thereon.
