CHURCH CIRCLE
St. Anne's Episcopal Church is of great historical interest. In its list of
Vestrymen are several of Maryland's early Governors, including Governor Charles
Calvert, 1721 and Governor Benedict Leonard Calvert, 1730, 1731: also two of
Maryland's fours Signers of the Declaration of Independance, Samuel Chase and
William Paca.
It possesses a number of notable relics, especially the Silver Communion
Service presented by King William III, in 1695-96.
The present building is the third on this site, the first having been torn down
after the Revolution, and the second destroyed by fire in 1858.
