CHAPTER 279.

CHAP. 279.

An act to authorise the appointment of Commissioners,
and the division of Worcester County in School Dis-
tricts, and for other purposes.

1837.

SECTION 1. Be if enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall be the duty of the levy court
of Worcester county, on or before the first Monday in
July next, to appoint five discreet and suitable persons
residing on the East side of the Pocomoke river in said
county, to act as commissioners, whose duty it shall be
or a majority of them, to assemble at some conveni-
ent place, on or before the first Monday of September
next, and to proceed to divide that part of Worcester

county, lying on the East side of said river, into a
suitable and convenient number of school districts,
and it shall also be the duty of the levy court aforesaid

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the said commissioners on each side of said river,
or a majority of them respectively, at the same time
that they describe and number the said school districts,
to report to the levy court of said county the number

ble cost of erecting a school house in each school dis-
trict; the house to be of plain and substantial materials
of such size as the commissioners may deem necessary,
together with the probable cost of the site of each, or
if there should be in any of said districts a school house
