CHAPTER 252.

1837.

An act to authorise the Sheriff of Frederick county, and
the Sheriff of Baltimore county respectively, in certain
cases, to execute writs and other process, serve sub-
poenas, and perform other official acts in the respective
portions of Carroll county, which were heretofore in-
cluded within their respective bailiwicks.

Preamble

WHEREAS, doubts are entertained by some, whether
since the confirmation of the act, entitled, an act for
the division of Baltimore and Frederick counties, and
for erecting a new one by the name of Carroll, and to
alter and change the constitution of this State, so far
as may be necessary to effect the same, passed at De-
cember session, eighteen hundred and thirty-five, chap-
ter two hundred and fifty-six, and confirmed at this
session of Assembly, the late and present sheriffs of
Frederick county and of Baltimore county, respective-
ly, can rightfully perform any official acts whatever
within the limits of Carroll county: and it being de-
sirable to remove all such doults, Therefore:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the late sheriff of Frederick county,
in respect of such part of Carroll county as was parcel
of Frederick county prior to the confirmation of said
act above recited by its title, and the late sheriff of
Baltimore county, in respect of such part of Carroll
county as was parcel of Baltimore county prior to the
confirmation of said act, above recited by its title, shall
severally be authorised and empowered to wind up and
close their business in the same manner in all respects,
and with the same rights and powers as if the said act
had not been confirmed.

Serve writs

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the present sheriff
of Frederick county, in respect of such part of Carroll
county as was parcel of Frederick county, and the
present sheriff of Baltimore county, in respect of such
part of Carroll county as was parcel of Baltimore
county, shall severally lie authorised and empowered
to execute all writs, subpoenas, and process whatever
delivered to them, severally, before the confirmation
