to devise and agree upon the place, and to superintend
the building thereof.

CHAP. 181.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of Harford county, be, and they are hereby authorised,
and directed in their discretion if they shall deem the
same necessary, to levy upon the assessable property of
the said county at their two first annual levies next af-
ter the passage of this act the sum of eight hundred
dollars, that is four hundred dollars each year, for the
building said bridge and to make the sum payable to
the said bridge commissioners or their order, and in

case of death, removal, or refusal to act, of any of the
aboved named bridge commissioners, the vacancy shall
be filled by the appointment of others by the said coun-
ty commissioners.

SEC. S. And be it enacted, That the said bridge com-
missioners before they act as such shall enter into bond
to the commissioners of Harford county in the penal
sum of sixteen hundred dollars, with such security as
may be approved by the said county commissioners,
conditioned for the performance of their duty as com-
missioners, and the faithful application and disburse-
ment of all monies that may come into their hands for
the purposes intended by this act.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the bridge commissioners to give public notice by
advertisement in all the newspapers printed in Harford
county for at least three weeks, inviting proposals for
building the said bridge, and shall contract for the same
on the best terms in their judgment, for the public in-
terest.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the bridge commissioners to report to. and account
with the county commissioners within a reasonable
time, and from time to time the progress and comple-
tion of the said bridge, and respecting the expenditure
of the money that may come into their hands, and to

pay over to the said county commissioners for the use
of the county, any balance hereby directed to be levied
that may remain unexpended in the building and com-
pletion of the said bridge.
