154 ~  Commissioners convene meeting with the freeholders for the laying out of Parishes; Commissioners present: Col. David Browne, Mr. Francis Jenckins, Capt. John Winder, James Dashiels, Roger Woolford, Edmund Howard, George Layfield, Capt. John King.

 

154 ~   Record of meeting: four Parishes to be erected: Somerset formed from Manokin and Mony Hundreds; Coventry (Cawventry) from Pocomoke and Annemessex; Stepney from Wicomico and Nanticoke; Snow Hill from Bogatee Norten and Mattapony. The freeholders are to meet 27 December to elect vestrymen as follows, Somerset Parish at Somerset Town, Coventry Parish at Pocomoke Church, Stepney Parish at Mr. John Huett’s, and Snow Hill Parish at Snow Hill; Constables to summon freeholders and clerk to draw up copies of the Act of Religion; Thomas Ackworth, Joy Hobbs, George Wilson and Nicholas Cornehill to deliver copies of the Act to freeholders at the respective Parish meetings.
