11 MARCH 1695/6 138 ~ Court convenes; Commissioners present: Francis Jenckins, Thomas Dixon, Matthew Scarbrough, Thomas Newbold, Samuel Hopkins, John King, Stephen Horsey. 138 ~ Petition of Thomas Dixon requests Court to order payments of 760 lbs/tbco to him from estate of Philip Adams and 524 lbs/tbco from estate of Samuel Long: John Long, Admn for Sam Long and Thomas Adams, Admn for Philip Adams, admit debts; Court orders payments, with costs. 138 ~ Case against John Fynch for fathering a bastard of Jane Jones; Jones testifies to his paternity; Court orders Fynch pay Jones 500 lbs/tbco and take custody of the child so that it not burden the County; Fynch makes bond for 2000 lbs/tbco to pay Jones and fines and fees to the Court; security Charles Mullen. 139 ~ Bryan Odougherty, Pltf. vs. Admn of Andrew Whittington, Deft. for debt of 600 lbs/tbco; Robert Catlin gives evidence for Pltf; attorney for the estate admits debt; Court orders payment, with costs. 139 ~ Court orders securities of Lancelott Sawkill to see he appears at next Court. 139 ~ Court appoints Robert Smith overseer of highways jointly with Rowlan Beavins. 139~ Edward Jones appointed overseer of highways in place of Philip Adams. 139 ~ Walter Taylor to construct pasture fence around Courthouse land; posts to be placed 10 feet apart and 2 feet in ground with four rails per panel on lines laid by Henry Hudson; to be completed by 2nd Tuesday in June; payment of 4 lbs/tbco per panel; Taylor to post bond of 2000 lbs/tbco for performance. 139 ~ Grand Jury returns with its presentments and is dismissed. 139 ~ John Jenner appears as required; Court orders he post security for appearance at June Court; makes bond for £100; securities Stephen Costin, Richard Chambers. 140 ~ Court adjourns for the day. |
