11 DECEMBER 1695 101 ~ Petition of George Lane for custody of John and James Trahearne, orphans sons of Anne Trahearne, recently deceased; states that their mother Anne Trahearne had committed them to his custody before her recent decease; Court orders Trahearnes be apprenticed to Lane until age 21; Lane promises to teach them to read and give them a cow and calf at age 18. 102 ~ Court orders George Layfield to pay Francis Jenckins 3800 lbs/tbco in consideration of £8/4/1 expended for the County and use of the Courthouse. 102 ~ Report concerning the charge by Daniel King of Pocomoke (Indian) that John Parker was building a house on Indian land; Rowland Beavins, Senior & Junior and Robert Smith appear along with Daniel and four of his great men; report is made that Parker’s house was about 1/2 mile within the Indians’ land; Court orders Parker to desist immediately. 102 ~ Petition of Edward Stevens to be ferryman of Pocomoke; Court so orders; Stevens posts security of 6000 lbs/tbco; securities Richard Tull and Walter Tayler. 103 ~ Case against Christopher. Foster & Ide Bannister; warrant, examination and mittimus read in Court; Court orders them into Sheriff’s custody; Foster and Bannister post £20 recognizance bond for their appearance in January Court; securities Henry Layton and Richard Tull. 103 ~ Court adjourns for the day. |
