ered to them respectively. The Council shall also provide
booths or compartments for secret voting similar to those pro-
vided under the general election law of this State and shall
also provide three glass ballot boxes similar to those used at all
general elections held in this State, and in the event the polls
for the town shall be held at one general polling place the bal-
lot boxes shall be numbered to correspond to the number of
the respective wards; and the Council may by ordinance pro-
vide for other details not herein enumerated, the purpose being
to have the election law of the town conform as nearly as prac-
ticable to the general election law of the State. In every elec-
tion, whether such election be the regular election or any
special election, the polls shall be opened at Eight A. M. and
closed at Six P. M.
Clerks and Judges of Election.
Not more than twenty nor less than ten days next preced-
ing any general election or any special election held under
this Article, there shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the
advice and consent of the Council, the following officials: five
judges, one from each ward, and two judges at large, one of
the latter being a Registration officer, three clerks, one from
each ward, and one gate-keeper, who, after they shall have duly
qualified before the Mayor of said town by taking the oath
hereinafter prescribed shall serve at such general election or
special election in the Wards for which they are respectively
appointed. At the time of the appointment of the judges and
clerks of election, the Mayor and Council shall also name a
polling place in each Ward or one general polling place. The
Mayor and Council shall publish in one or more newspapers
published or circulated in Brunswick the names of the judges
and clerks of election, and the polling place in each Ward or
the General polling place designated, and the date and object
of election and said notice shall be published at least twice
before each election. Before proceeding to act, each judge
and clerk of election shall make oath before the Mayor that he
will, well and faithfully, without fear or favor, partiality or
prejudice, perform the duties of judge or clerk, as the case
may be, and in the case of a judge that he will deposit all legal
ballots in the ballot box, and no other ballot, and that he will
make out and sign correct returns of the votes cast for each
candidate and of the whole number of votes cast at said elec-
tion. If any person or persons, who have been appointed judge
or clerk of general election or of special election, shall fail,
