seem to them necessary, provided, that the amount of taxes
levied for any one year shall not exceed thirty cents on the
one hundred dollars, which taxes shall be collected by a col-
lector, appointed by the commissioners; the levy shall be made
on or before the first day of September for each year, and all
taxes so levied shall be a lien on any and all property of the
person against whom they may be levied; if any of said taxes
shall remain unpaid after the first day of January next suc-
ceeding the date of their levy, the said collector may proceed
to collect the same by way of distress and execution in the same
manner as is described in section fifty-two to sixty-seven of
Article eighty-one of the Code of Public General Laws of the
State of Maryland.
SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That they are authorized to
procure a room or house for the incarceration of all persons
who may be committed thereto by the proper authorities for
the violation of any ordinance or by-law of the corporation.
SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That the Board of Road Di-
rectors of Prince George's County shall annually pay the Com-
missioners of Bowie three-fourths of the taxes levied against
the assessable property within said town for public roads and
bridges.
SEC. 18A. And be it enacted, That the Board of Liquor
License Commissioners of Prince George's County shall pay
over to the Town Commissioners of Bowie three-fourths of
the money received from liquor licenses under the provisions
of Chapter 296 of the Acts of 1906 as codified by Chapter 22
of the Acts of 1912 for places of business within the said
Town.
SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That this Act shall not become
effective unless it shall be submitted to the qualified voters
living within the prescribed limits of said town, and accepted
by a majority of the ballots cast, at an election to be held for
that purpose on the third Monday in June, 1916. The polls
to be open from three P. M. until seven P. M.
SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That William Luers, E. P.
Watts, and Thos. B. Littlepage are hereby appointed judges
of election for the ratification of this charter, and they are
hereby authorized to prepare ballots, provide such place, and
to do other things necessary for the holding of an election for
the ratification of this charter. They shall give at least ten
