CHAPTER 416.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Wicomico and Worcester Counties to clean out the bed
of the Upper Pocomoke River and to drain the swamp lands
along the upper portion of said River, in said two Counties
and to appoint a Commission to supervise said work and to
levy a sum of money upon the swamp lands and lands
drained in each of said Counties to pay for the drainage of
the same.

WHEREAS, There is now a large acreage of land, in each of
the counties of Wicomico and Worcester, along the upper
waters of the Pocomoke River, unfit for cultivation owing to
its need of better drainage, and

WHEREAS, It is now believed that said land can be drained
by cleaning out the upper river bed of the Pocomoke River
and deepening the same, with suitable drains into the same
and thereby make said swamp lands productive and of great
natural fertility, therefore
